West London development to deliver 298 new homes and ancillary benefits
Topland Group, along with joint venture partner London Green, have been given the go ahead for their Albany Riverside development in Brentford, which combined with their linked approval at Brentford Police Station, comprises nearly 300 new homes and a new home for the Watermans Arts Centre.
Having secured a resolution to grant consent from the London Borough of Hounslow in February 2018, the scheme has finally received approval from the Secretary of State, paving the way for the redevelopment of the two sites, both of which are identified within Hounslow’s local plan.
The prominent riverside location opposite the Kew World Heritage Site will provide 193 private homes, with a further 105 homes – 57% of which will be affordable – and a 25,000 sqft community arts centre at the former police station site.
The Secretary of State highlighted numerous benefits associated with the Morris+Company designed scheme, including the provision of much-needed new housing stock, significant design and public realm improvements, and the provision of a vital community hub.
